5 Benefits of Custom LED Light Box Signage

A custom light box is more than just a sign; it provides a powerful way to showcase your brand. Unlike traditional signage, which can fade into the background, light boxes catch the eye and provide a sleek, modern look that can make a lasting impact.

With even illumination and a polished design, light boxes stand out in busy environments, reaching customers more easily than with traditional non-lit signs. At DSA Signage, we offer light boxes and other retail signage options that help you inform and entice customers. Let’s explore light boxes and some of the key benefits of this type of signage.

1. High Visibility

Unlike non-lit signs that can fade into the background at night or in dim settings, LED light boxes keep your branding and message visible around the clock. Human vision is naturally attracted to light and contrast, especially in environments where there are many competing visuals.

Whether they are used to showcase a brand logo, promote a special offer, provide wayfinding information, or to simply highlight your products, a light box transforms your signage into a bright focal point. A lit surface stands out immediately against its surroundings, which is why illuminated displays are so effective in retail, hospitality, and public spaces.

2. Enhanced Readability

One of the biggest advantages of light boxes is how they improve legibility. With traditional signs, natural light or overhead lighting can create glare, shadows, or uneven illumination that makes text and graphics harder to see. Light boxes, particularly backlit display light boxes, reduce glare and shadows, which makes text crisper and easier to read.

Another benefit is readability from multiple angles and distances. Whether someone is walking by at close range or viewing your sign across a busy street or crowded store, the consistent illumination of this type of signage helps ensure the message remains sharp and easy to understand. For businesses, this means fewer missed impressions and a higher chance that customers will actually take in the information you want to convey.

3. Easy Customization

Light boxes can be made in a wide range of sizes, and you can select single-sided or double-sided signage, as well as opting for edge-lit or backlit displays. Additionally, the acrylic or fabric signage can be changed and replaced whenever you need an update. Simply remove the old graphics and quickly replace them with an updated look.

4. Light Boxes Offer A High ROI

Investing in signage is about more than just upfront costs; it’s about how much visibility and impact your signage delivers over time. Light boxes typically yield a higher return on investment than non-illuminated signs because they offer two huge advantages – stopping power and a longer lifespan.

Illuminated signage naturally captures greater attention, which means you reach a larger audience. This translates to more impressions per day without any extra marketing spend. Additionally, our durable LED light boxes have an exceptionally long lifespan, outlasting other types of lighted signage as well as non-lit signs, which fade over time.

5. Energy-Efficient & Durable: Why We Use LED Lights

In the past, fluorescent lights were common, but LED lighting technology is now the gold standard for light boxes and most other types of signage. At DSA Signage, we only use LED lights for our static light boxes, and here’s why:

  • LED lights have a far longer lifespan than fluorescent bulbs – up to 50,000 hours
  • LED lights are environmentally-friendly and up to 80% more energy-efficient than fluorescent lights
  • LED lights are mercury-free
  • LED lights produce far less heat than fluorescents
  • LEDs are much more durable

Additionally, LED lights instantly display their full brightness when turned on. With fluorescents, it can take several seconds for these lights to warm up. Fluorescents also tend to flicker, but with an LED light box, you enjoy a strong, steady light source.

Types of Light Boxes: Which Option Is Best For You?

At DSA Signage, we offer a myriad of light box options, including side access light boxes, thin profile light boxes, hidden hinge light boxes, front access light boxes, and fabric SEG light boxes. Let’s take a look at each option.

Edgelit & Backlit Display Light Boxes

These light boxes are ideal for tight spaces and for acrylic graphics. We have several different options. For instance, a side access light box combines a sleek, minimalist frame with vibrant LED illumination. It’s designed for easy side-access graphic changes; you simply slide out the old acrylic graphic and replace it with a new one.

The front access light box features a standard 3 ¾-inch profile and a snap-open front that makes it easy to load up a new design whenever it’s needed. These boxes feature backlit LED illumination, bringing your indoor displays to life and capturing attention.

A thin-profile light box is another option, and this is our slimmest frame option. These light boxes provide a clean, modern look that puts your acrylic graphics front and center. These include edge-to-edge LED lighting and a snap-open frame, ideal for fast updates.

Hidden Hinge Light Boxes

If you need outdoor light boxes, the hidden hinge light box is the perfect option. These are weather-resistant and designed with durability and security in mind, and feature a lockable hinged frame and brilliant LED backlighting. They are perfect both for outdoor use as well as high-traffic areas where both visibility and security are key. These light boxes also use acrylic graphics.

Fabric SEG Light Boxes

These light boxes are our biggest sellers, and one of the perks of fabric SEG light boxes is that you can make these graphics as large as you want. Acrylic graphics are somewhat limited in size; typically, a single sheet won’t be larger than 4 feet x 8 feet, and while that is a good size, if you need something larger, fabric can be a perfect option, and we often can find fabric options as large as 10 feet by 20 feet.

Not sure which option is best for you? Not to worry, we will help you through every step of the process. Whether you need indoor or outdoor signage, or a combination of both, we can determine which type of light boxes are the best fit for your business.

DSA Signage: A One-Stop Shop

In addition to our LED light boxes, we offer a wide range of additional static and digital signage options as well, including LED video walls, digital menu boards and drive thru signage. Whether you need an outdoor menu board, an indoor menu board, or perhaps a digital kiosk, we offer these options and more.

If you opt for digital retail signage, we offer a commercial-grade media player that allows you to easily manage, schedule, and update your digital media content in real time. As part of our goal to provide customers with a streamlined, one-stop signage shop, we also can help you with content management and with any graphics you might need for light boxes and other signage.

Whether you need a custom LED light box or another of our fine products, DSA signage can provide custom signage solutions that meet your needs and budget. We believe in the power of strategic partnerships, and our goal is to help you entice customers with dynamic signage that boosts your brand identity and improves the user experience.
