Illuminate your Marketing
There are many applications in which LED light boxes can be used. We’re here to help you choose the best light box application for your use case or business. LED light boxes use internal lighting to illuminate a graphic of your choice. They are typically used for advertising or informational purposes, and can be found in a variety of settings, from retail stores to train stations. There are three main types of light boxes: SEG fabric light boxes, snap frame light boxes, and LED light panels.
SEG fabric light boxes use stretch fabric to create a seamless, wrinkle-free surface for your graphic panel.
Snap frame light boxes have a frame around the perimeter of the panel that allows you to easily change out your graphic, which is printed on a backlit film. No matter what type of light box you choose, you can be sure that it will help your message stand out.
LED light panels are lighting sources that use LED strips to provide even, energy-efficient lighting. They can be placed as an architectural accent or behind an object to illuminate it.

Benefits of Light Boxes
- Captures Customers’ Attention – a well-designed light box can help to capture attention and communicate your message quickly and effectively, whether it’s promoting a sale or drawing attention to a new product.
- Stand out from the Competition – with so much signage out there, it can be tough to make your business stand out. A well-placed light box can do just that, helping you to get noticed in a busy environment.
- Increases Foot Traffic – by drawing people’s attention to your business, you can see an increase in foot traffic as well as an uptick in brand awareness. As more and more people learn about your company, they may be more likely to visit in person or even buy from you online.
- Affordable Marketing Solution – compared to other forms of advertising, light boxes are relatively affordable, meaning they can fit into any budget. Being able to customize them and easily change the messaging makes them a reusable marketing tool.
Lighting Considerations
There are several lighting aspects that should be considered when choosing a light box for your environment, such as the LED placement and the color temperature. Each factor affects the quality of light produced and how an illuminated panel or graphic will be perceived by a viewer. We offer different customization options to help you select the best light box for your needs.
The color temperature of light is measured using the Kelvin (K) scale and using it, one can determine what tonal quality the resulting light will have. Temperatures at the lower end of the scale are more red and appear warmer. Temperatures at the higher end of the scale are more blue with a cooler tone. Light in the middle, 5500K to 6500K, has a whiter cast and most simulates daylight.
LED lighting stock options for our light boxes include 3200K warm white, 4100K neutral white, and 6500K daylight temperatures, all in standard output with 6500K also available in a High Output option for a few limited references.
For our LED light boxes, we offer two placement options, Edgelit and Backlit lighting. Our standard lighting option is Edgelit LED placement where LEDs are installed along two sides of a light box with light evenly diffused by an etched acrylic panel. Edgelit lighting is available in standard output (2200 lumens) and high output (4000 to 6000 lumens) options. With Backlit LED light boxes, LED strips are installed along the back of a light box with stronger light intensity. Backlit LED lighting standard output is 2800 lumens and high output measures a very bright 7000 lumens.
FAQs
How does a light box work?
A light box is built with an exterior frame and internal lighting source designed to illuminate a graphic from behind. All our light box frames are manufactured in-house, with lightweight and extremely durable aluminum extrusions.
Regarding the illumination, we offer Edgelit or Backlit light boxes. On Edgelit, the LED bulbs are installed on the edges of the built-in etched acrylic panel, on which the graphic is placed directly, followed by the cover sheet. The Edgelit light boxes are more economical than backlit light boxes, for which the whole back of the graphic is illuminated.
Depending on the size of the light box you need, we will either recommend our Edgelit or Backlit options. In both cases, we will make sure that your graphic is evenly and harmoniously illuminated, as this is our primary concern.
Do you also offer fluorescent light boxes?
We do not offer any fluorescent illumination and have switched all our products to LEDs, as this is a more energy-efficient and durable lighting source.
LED light boxes can last up to 100,000 hours and can be made in ultra-slim sizes less than 1″ thick.
What type of light box should I purchase?
There are many considerations when choosing a light box including the application, installation site, graphic size, and aesthetics. If you want or need an ultra-thin light box, then an LED Edgelit light box is preferable to a Backlit light box.
We are happy to answer any questions you might have to help you pick the right one.
What's included with a light box order?
LED light boxes include LED lighting, built-in etched acrylic panel, clear cover sheet, and power supply.
What type of graphics can be used with a light box?
Graphics printed on a backlit film 8ml substrate such as Kodak Universal Backlit Film are acceptable for use with our light boxes. Graphics can also be printed directly onto an acrylic sheet, however, if you’re considering this, we strongly recommend that you contact a local printer to assist you. Our frameless fabric light boxes can use direct print or dye sublimation fabrics.
Do you print graphics?
Yes, we are a one-stop shop for a finished product that includes the illuminated display and its graphic. We work with you throughout the entire process, from graphic sizing and approval to printing.
We can also help with graphic updates, either by shipping you a new graphic when you are ready for a change-out, or through a subscription model. We can print out and send graphics monthly, bi-monthly, whatever works for you! We ensure high-quality, on-time graphics made for your LED light boxes.
What's the warranty on DSA light boxes?

The warranty timeframe varies on our Value line, from 6 months to 1 year.
Do you offer reseller or volume pricing? What about credit terms?
