Illuminated Displays for an Educational Exhibit

Fifteen DSA Phototech LED Light Boxes with Internal Power Supply were recently installed in a new educational exhibit at the Goldendale Observatory Interpretative Center. A Washington State Park, the Goldendale Observatory is a 5-acre educational facility in southern Washington State dedicated to telescope viewing and science education. Designed by Edquist Davis Exhibits in Seattle and installed by Doty & Associates in Kirkland, the exhibit presents the history of the observatory. It showcases a telescope, star field, and planetary images backlit with energy-efficient LED lighting.

Goldendale Observatory State Park is an International Dark Sky Association-certified Dark Sky Park with exceptional night time quality for stargazing. Dimmable drivers are used to adjusting the light output from the LED Light Boxes to keep the center dim at night to observe stars yet preserve visibility of the illuminated graphic images from daytime through evening hours. Use of LED lighting ensures ongoing operational costs and maintenance are minimized.
